Update on this: the Custom 5 is a superb neck pickup for the parallel option alone. I think it is better than a Jazz.
I got it wired up today and although I haven't played through my rig I did play through a clean amp.
Mincer was right. The Custom 5 is very compressed in the neck--but it cuts through nicely for solos if you want that sound.
Going to parallel with the Triple Shot turns it into a totally different beast. You essentially get a warm/bright pickup all in one.
If you have a Custom 5 and aren't doing anything with it, flip it around and see if you like it, guys. I think the neck position accentuates the pickup's qualities and pairs well with a regular Custom.
If I get around to posting any sound files here I will do so, but again, the big take away is you get a very versatile pickup in the neck position.
