Custom Custom humming?

My Custom Custom is humming on high gain settings. My neck pickup is just fine, noiseless when untapped, noise when tapped so i know everything's working there. But my CC in the bridge isn't even hooked up to the coil tap - red and white are soldered together and taped off. I even took it apart, cut the red and white wires, and resoldered just to make sure... the buzz remains. I'm not certain it's in single coil mode, but I don't know what else would be causing this. Did the same thing with the bare and green, soldered them to the back of the volume pot. It's 1 vol, 1 tone, 3 way switch and the coil tap for the neck pickup. Any ideas?

I would like to know about this too because I had a Custom Custom before that was kind of noisy. It wasn't as noisy as single coils but it was kind of noisy. I had the wiring checked and it was all good. I ended up replacing it with a Full Shred and the hum reduced significantly. Could it be that I had a faulty pickup?

Re: Custom Custom humming?

Happened to me as well and I was told this is due to it being wound at a hot 14K and using the A2 magnet. try shielding the pickup cavity just for the bridge route:14:

I've also had this experience but I was warned: that's just how they are. So, I dealt with it. It's not so bad.
