Custom Custom in the neck?

Looking at the specs for the Custom Custom, it seems like it's what I'm looking for in a neck pickup. Has anyone tried it in the neck and if so, how was it?

Played very quietly it might be OK but played loudly through a cranked amp I think it would have no highs, tons of mids and be very muddy sounding as a neck pickup. My Hamer Monoco had a Custom as a neck pickup and Custom Custom as a bridge pickup. Same pickup with differant magnets. I changed the neck pickup to a Seth Lover to get a clear enough tone for chords. I love the Custom Custom as a bridge pickup, but I doubt I'd like it as a neck pickup. Lew

Maybe you'd go better with the Alnico II pro as a neck pickup?
Or, if you want a PAF-ish pickup, just louder, you could try the '59 Bridge at the neck position, or the Screamin Demon. The CC ist a darker pickup, good for the bridge position if the guitar is too bright, but maybe too dark and loud at the neck position.

It wud be very muddy due to lots of mids, not reccomended, you shud try an alnico 2pro its a great neck pickup. Also it would be not very usefull playing it clean unless u had a very weird sounding rig.
