Custom Custom + Marshall 1987X = To much mids?

hey ho

So I'm thinking of buying an alder strat-type guitar with FMT top, ebony fretboard and locking trem. I have my mind made up about putting a CC in the bridge. That running straight into my VHT makes me drool already...

But I was thinking about buying a Marshall 1987X "plexi" reissue next year, and suddenly realised that the mid-heavy CC into that amp may turn out to be a total mids-Overkill...

Any comments?

I use a CC in a Ibanez les paul running through a Marshall jcm 900 100w. I have used many pickups through this head and the CC is the only one that sounds like it woke the amp up. I cant belive how good it sounds!!!

Nope....I've got a double fat strat with a CC in the bridge, thru a modded JCM 800 that has a gain structure voiced like a Plexi.....Tone heaven.

A Custom Custom through a cranked up Marshall is one of my very, very favorite guitar tones! They're made for each other. Lew

The CC will totally work well through a plexi, clean and dirty. You will have plenty of mids but they will be quality mids. Your speakers will make a big difference too.

I like both the C-5 and CC for great plexi tones. The C-5 has a tighter bass response, lets the amp's mids dictate the mids, and the highs let you hear more string nuances. The CC has darker, thicker mids and the highs are more creamy and bouncy under your fingers. My two favorite humbuckers on plexis.
