Custom Custom Too Loud

Hello everyone,
I bought a warmoth strat off ebay a couple months ago. It's a chambered mahogany body with maple neck. Originally it had a 59 and custom-custom(b) with no pickguard and the guitar was friggin loud (way louder than my buddy's les paul) so I switched out the 59 and got a Alnico Pro 2 for the neck and absolutely loved it. Finally I got my pickguard from warmoth hoping that I'd be able to level out the volume of the custom custom. No luck, I've got each of them about a 1/4" above the pickguard and the custom custom is still loud.
Overall I like the sound of the custom custom, but I need a trem spaced lower output option with either the same style of eq or a little smoother. Any ideas?
I play through a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe.

Raise the neck and lower the bridge?

If that doesn't work, get the match for your neck.....an Alnico Pro II bridge.

But the matching isn't trem spaced. Why don't they make a trem spaced alnico pro seeing as it seems to come up a lot on this forum.

Can't you just adjust the CC a little further from the strings until you get it to balance more to liking with the neck pickup? I use the CC with a Seth Lover neck and find the balance to be just fine, although it is louder than the Seth...seems like with a little more tweaking you should be able to set it to your liking. But if not, then Gearjoneser's suggestion makes sense: get a bridge Alnico 2 Pro. Lew

Just add a 500k "trim-pot" between the red and white wires, and tweak it to taste. (Use Fig 2 of the first pic, and leave out the switch.)

yes, or do the mod where the volume lowers, but there is no loss of highs......this way, you get the sound of it, but not as much actual volume

1/4 inch above the pickguard seems very high. Lower it about an 1/8 and see what you think.

Ok, I think I managed to get them balanced enough. I'll give it a while to see if it's a sound I like. It's just I really liked the alnico pro low, but we'll see...
That volume mod might be worth while. Thanks guys

Actually its just a shop floor custom. May have to wait but no extra cost.
