Custom Custom vs. Pearly Gates

I'm thinking about removing the Custom Custom from my PRS Swamp Ash Special SE. It's a great pickup but the mids are huge and very thick. I'm trying to go with more of a PAF type pickup with a little less mids. I have a Pearly Gates neck model in the neck position of the guitar. I was thinking of installing a Pearly Gates bridge model in the bridge position. What differences can I expect?

brighter and with a big upper mid peak, i love it. the highs arent as sharp as a 59b for example, but the pgb doesnt have the same big bottom. its noticeably lower output than the cc and its a paf, so i set the neck pup low and the bridge pup high

I am a big CC fan, so I think a PG (or even a Hades Gates) would be really the opposite EQ of a CC. Hopefully that will solve the issues you are having with the bridge pickup.

Only issue I have is the CC is super thick. That said, it does really sound good. I might just leave well enough alone. I do wish that the Duncan sets were more balanced. I don’t like lowering my neck pickups and raising my bridge pickups like crazy.

I endorse this message.

CC is a completely different beast than a PG.

CC/PG is a good combo, as is a CC/A2P.

But bridge to bridge - wayyyyy different. Not the same animal at all except for a few slight A2 mag characteristics. Emphasis on slight.

i will suggest swapping an in a3. similar tone but a little less low mid which makes it sound a bit brighter and less dense with a touch less output
