Ok, I know, not a very imaginative and probably one of the most asked questions on this board...
I had the '59 neck-JB4 combo in my neck-thru, string thru body alder ESP Horizon, which was ok but I didn't get too excited on the JB. Then I swapped it with the Distortion from my maple Dinky. The JB does well in there, providing a much warmer tone to the maple (still not thé best solution for the dinky though). Anyways, I'll replace the Distortion with a Custom custom.
The question is, should I stick to the '59 neck or get an Alnico II Pro? I find the '59 to be a little muddy.
Of what I've heard on the humbucker examples on the SD-site, the A2P seems more defined, accentuating every note more yet has a soft tone. Could anyone confirm this? Or isn't it?
Also, does the A2P sound split single-coil-ish?
How is it overdriven (for sweeping)?
Is this a good combination for fusion, shred, metal, clean stuff, blues, jazz?
I know the '59 ought to be good for jazz, but I'm looking for something that suits me more...
thanks!
