Custom/Demon Hybrid - any experience?

I have a Custom Custom in which I replaced the A2 with an A5 and a Screamin Demon. I thought the SD was a bit weak. The C5 is in the bridge spot of a Tele Deluxe. I like the tone but I am looking for something a bit brighter and thought of making a hybrid from these two pickups.

I found some information on the Custom/Demon hybrid in this thread: https://forum.seymourduncan.com/showthread.php?282349-Hybrid-Combinations&highlight=combinations

Who else has tried one, in which guitar and what were the results?
And, given that both coils are quite far apart in DC resistance (5k vs. 7k), how well is the humcancelling effect maintained?

Many thanks in advance.

Re: Custom/Demon Hybrid - any experience?

Seems like the Custom/Demon Hybrid is a lot less common than the 59/Custom Hybrid. I will just try it once I get around to it and report.

Re: Custom/Demon Hybrid - any experience?

Wish I could be of help but while I love the Screamin Demon I have no experience with a Screamin Demon Hybrid. If you do end up making up then please let us know what you think!

Re: Custom/Demon Hybrid - any experience?

I've made a couple C/Demon hybrids and like them better than the C/59 hybrid. It has a fuller/richer tone (slightly more mids) and maybe a touch more output.

Just like mouse ears said in that post you referred to.

Re: Custom/Demon Hybrid - any experience?

Many thanks, GuitarDoc, this is really helpful. I have already made a couple of C/59 hybrids so this is a good reference point.

Re: Custom/Demon Hybrid - any experience?

Yup, great pup. I'd go for a demon/SH6N hybrid, though. The mismatch isn't as extreme (5k vs 6k of 43awg wire, versus 5k/7k). But that's because I love the SH6N and I do not like the Custom series, at all. Just my pet peeve.

Re: Custom/Demon Hybrid - any experience?

Many thanks Orpheo. I actually considered the SH6N for the exact reason but as far as I know the SH6-N is not available as trembucker, and both my Screamin' Demon and the Custom are trembuckers.
