Custom Flat Strat vs Cool Rails output

Is there a big output difference between these two? Been thinking about putting a neck and mid of either one of these types of pickup sets in a HSS 7 string I have with a SH-5 custom bridge humbucker.

I should specify, I was thinking of putting a neck position cool rails in the neck and mid position of a HSS Seven String or putting the Custom Flat Strat in the neck and mid(RWRP) in there.

Re: Custom Flat Strat vs Cool Rails output

I haven't used a SSL-6 in the neck or middle, but I have one in my Strat and I'm familiar with the Cool Rails. They don't really sound all that similar; the SSL-6 is a fat, beefy Strat single while the Cool Rails sounds like a single coil sized Jazz. My gut reaction is that the SSL-6 would be louder than the Cool Rails, but I haven't directly compared the two. I have used a Cool Rails in the neck position with both a Custom and Custom Custom in the bridge and the two make a great combo.

Well, to me, the SSL-6 sounds louder because it has more mids. It might not be overall louder, but you certainly feel it more. The CR is more scooped.

Do they make Cool Rails and Custom Flat in 7-string versions?
