Custom Shop: Re-wind vs. True Custom

Does the $55 Custom Shop re-wind for Duncan pickups only count if you have he pickup re-wound as a factory standard pickup? (In other words- if I ask for a twangier/spankier sounding wind, will that be counted as a "rewound" pickup or would I need to pay up for a true custom job for them to honor that request?

Also: is wax potting included within the $55 re-wind price? It's a separate radio button on the ordering portal so it isn't clear. Yeah I could call and ask, but I'd rather call them prepared if anyone knows this stuff off the top of their head.

Hmm, these are some questions I think that SD might only be able to answer. You may want to call them for some clarification. If you hear back, let us know as the answers might help other people, too.

When I was discussing some rewinds with Duncan, they acted as if I could ask for any wind specs I wanted. I was discussing rewinding a Dean OEM JB/'59 set with a bizarre 50mm spacing into an underwound Seth set (use standard neck wind for bridge pickup, and use an underwound neck model for the neck pickup). I needed rewinds because the guitar used a special type of matte nickel hardware finish that was not available anywhere else...and the screwed up 50mm pole spacing, so I couldn't just pop the stock covers onto any Duncan pickup.

I doubt wax potting incurs an extra charge. It's likely there as an option just because some people will want to opt out – not so Duncan can charge more for opting in.
