Custom sounds really bad,any ideas?

Have 59 ( neck) and Custom (bridge) in my strat,59 sounds nice,loud,etc
Custom sounds horrible,weak dead sounding,way lower in volume.
Any ideas why? Really dissapointed, thought this pickup was higher output with more tone and balls to it.

The Custom should sound huge. Use a meter to make sure the coils are working, and try wiring it directly to the jack. Something is wrong here. If the pickup is ok, try posting some pics of the wiring, so we can help diagnose it.

Classic mistake is to not have the red & white wires actually soldered together. (And taped up.) The coils are in close enough proximity to induce some signal between them, so you hear something. But it's weak. Check that first. A meter, even a cheap one, is your friend here.

Agree with Artie. Make sure the red and white wires are soldered together and insulated. The Custom should sound huge

Also make sure you have the heights of the pups adjusted.
