Custom Staggered or Custom Flat for Strat Bridge?

Hi all,

First, an update on the Quarter Pound I put in the middle position of my Silhouette-- it's killer! Balances well with the WLH bridge and PAF Pro neck (which I'll prob switch a '59 soon) and sounds great with 500k pots!

Anyways, I'm on a little bit of pickup swapping kick now, so I'm going to swap out the bridge pick-up on my new American Standard FSR Strat to get it to sing a little more vs. the Fat 50's. Right now, I'm looking at either the SSL-5 or SSL-6. What is the difference sound wise? How noticeable is it?

Thanks!

It’s a small difference but unless it’s vintage fretboard radius (7.25) I would go flat.

i pretty much always go flat but if your other pups are staggered then i might stick with that

I have a Custom Flat in the bridge of my Strat, but it's a Charvel Model 1A with a 12-16" compound radius. I'd go staggered for 7.25", and flat for anything 12" or flatter. For an in between radius it really doesn't matter and the sound difference is pretty small regardless.

Couldn’t have said it better.

I also have a Charvel with the same awesome radius and got a Stag Mag with flat poles from the shop floor. For my 9.5 I don’t think I can tell. I just tend to angle the pickup a bit more if it’s staggered.
