"custom" vs. "custom custom"

i was listening to the demos of both of these pickups on this website and it sounded like the sh-11 had more bite than the sh-5. however, word on the street is that the sh-5 is the most brutal of all the custom pickups. can anyone help compare and contrast the characteristics of both pickups in their own words to help give me a better understanding?

the custom has a ceramic magnet and the custom custom has an Alnico 2 i believe. I own a custom and it is nice if you like playing more modern rock metal. It has a tight bottom end and enough sizzle and crunch in the highs to be a nice articullate pickup. mids are slighty scooped.

Ive never used a custom custom but from what ive read is that its the same as a custom but smoother and a little warmer. I think its geared for more of a classic rock sound AC/DC etc but you could probably still play anything with it.

The CC does metal just fine in a brighter guitar. It does have a ton of mids, which help is punch through for leads adn it has a big, toothy snarl when playing rythm. The Custom is more aggro than the CC, but not by much. ;)

The Custom Custom and Custom are the same pickup with differant magnets.

The Custom Custom has an alnico 2 magnet and has very pronounced mids and a beautifully smooth growl when I up-pick and pinch notes on the low E string that I love. The lows are loose and compressable and highs are very smooth. The tone is vary shapeable and responsive to shades of picking attack. Alot of people feel that through a cranked Marshall it gives a very EVH like tone.

The Custom uses a ceramic magnet and has more sizzle to the highs and tighter stronger bass. Plenty of mids too. I think of the ceramic magnets as having a tone that accentuates all frequencies, not just the mids and having a treble reponse with a little more sizzle than alnico 2 or alnico 5.

Which do u guys think would be better in a Schecter 006 Elite (as the name implies :)) if it was used with a Duncan Distortion. I made a whole thread on it but i can just ask u guys now too. Would the CC be better in the rhythmn position for a smooth tone while still being able to get a good sound for metal.

To be honest with you, I would use neither the Custom or the Custom Custom in the neck position. Too much output and not enough clarity for me when used there.

The Custom is very nice for rock and metal. tight overall tone.
