Weird. I use them a lot, no issues. Various gauges of the XL nickel-wound and NYXL.

I don’t know exactly why either, but some sets will leave your fingers black when new. The set I put on the Jaguar did it, but the red tele did not.
I get my strings direct from D’Addario so they are not counterfeit. Those were coming from some Amazon dealers I believe

Their customer service is exceptional. I broke a $20 strap, they gave me a $50 replacement. My daughter broke a tuner, George laughed and mailed me a new one. Awesome company that really cares about its customers.

I’ve never had that issue. Email them. They will send you another set.

Never happened to me with D'Addario that I can remember -I only use NYXL on my 11s guitars
I have seen it before on Ernie Ball years ago once or twice, I assume it's a manufacturing lubricant when on the line and happens from time to time at the end of a run or a miscalibrated or machine issue with any company
Contact D'Addario -they'll take care of you.

I get these from Strings & Beyond, I have a custom blend I order from "single strings" 09, 10.5, 015, 24w, 34w, 44w. Strings & Beyond get them direct from D'Addario.

Sheesh, read people...strings that come directly from the manufacturer are not counterfeit. I did some looking into it and as I suspected it is corrosion. I don't go through 11s very often, so it makes sense that the set I put on the Jag is older. I use 10s on all my 25.5" guitars so I never have them sit around for too long.
