Damn I like the 59nA4

so before rewiring my tele on the weekend I thought I'd just chuck the 59nA4 in with all the old parts just to make sure it worked in the guitar and I still liked it after not using it for a year or so

I really like this pick up/mag combo. retains allot of the 59n sound but the bottom is less boomy and the mid eq is a bit flatter and present and teh top is pretty nice, not spikey .I never really see it mentioned as a good mag swap neck option but I love it

and I hadnt tried it with the alt8 before and they really sit well togther. my biggest gripe with the alt8 has been finding a neck that plays well with it and the 59A4 seems to really work . I had the standard 59n in with it before and the mid content was just too contrasting

now if I can just get the new switch and pots in without a problem this guitar is going to get used allot more live

Re: Damn I like the 59nA4

all my neck pups have a A4 as of the last few months,i cant use any other mag now in the neck:approve:

Re: Damn I like the 59nA4

thats a great one! I have a 59b/4 in the neck of my Explorer with a C8 in the bridge..

Re: Damn I like the 59nA4

Yup me too, nice to know I'm not the only one around here who does.

I have a A4 59n / U0A5 59b combo in my LP copy.

Re: Damn I like the 59nA4

Yeah, it works great. I went through the DDn with double ceramic, A2, and A5 first. Then I went to the 59n with A5, A4, tried A2 for a spell then went back to A4. I think it's the best you can do with that pickup. I'm satisfied with it for the time being.

Re: Damn I like the 59nA4

Yup I've used the a4 59n in 2 guitars now, both epi les pauls. I'm thinking of putting one in my Gibson now if I don't try to find something hand wound.

I wonder what a a4 seth would be like?

Re: Damn I like the 59nA4

i love the 59A4n in my sg copy. i threw some hex poles off my SD8 from the bridge and put in arties demud mod since the guitar was really bassy. i love it now. the original poles i threw in the SD8. perfect balance

Seems you haven't read my posts for the last four years or so...?

I've been preaching the A4neck/A8bridge mag combo since 2008.

My #1 guitar still loads an A4 '59n / A8 Custom bridge, and even though I've been successfully experimenting with other mag combos, at least for me and many of my customers, still remains the undisputed "King of all Mag Combos".

HTH,

I do try to read your posts whenever I can....

Not really .But I have seen you mention it before with a couple of other regulars. And I'm on board with you guys.

i have seen other mentions of the 59nA4 combo but not many for how good I think it is.Especially when I really didn't take to the forum poster child c8 at all .
C8 fet like 2 odd things smashed together for me while the 59a4 feels like a synergy and best of both. forgive the hippie talk just got back from the pub.

I've agreed with Pepe with that combo, '59n or b in the neck (either with the A4 or UOA5) and C8 in the bridge for years................until recently. Enter the C5/59 hybrid! Very effectively replaced the C8. It's more chimey, more lush, has a wider frequency range, is more articulate and more dynamic.

Re: Damn I like the 59nA4

Lew selling the A4 magnets Feb of 2005.....You guys weren't forum members yet....Lol....I'd say Lew gets the credit for turning us onto the A4 magnets!]

I was very surprised to see Dr. Barlo talking about A3 mags back in 2005.

Wasn't John Wymore the one that sold mags to everybody back then?

A real trip to memory lane... to some of you, of course! ;)

I think I was doing Hybrids for quite a few forum members(along with a tonj of pedals around that time also)? ;o) Doc was very "instrumental" as far as magnet swaps...I also did the Magnet Swap Tutorial in 05...Just wanted to see alot of us taking credit and not just 2 people! ;o) Not a pissing match...Just saying!

Tutorials 04....
