Damnit Norman......

....You were right. Gear purchases come in 3's. :yell: Could it be a 3rd Taylor???......almost. It actually almost was a Taylor Big Baby, thank goodness she fell in love with this. :laugh2: :laugh2:

My daughter has been bugging me for a few months now to learn guitar. I wanted to make sure that it wasn't just a passing fancy, so I've been letting her pluck away on my strat. Well, she's still at it and asking me almost every day when she can get her own guitar.

Stoped by Sam Ash to get a stand because GC was out ot them. Hanging on the wall was this sweet looking little Carlo Robelli. She picked it up and was strumming on, and I thought she was playing the Big Baby, it sounded really nice. She said "hey dad, you know that guy that makes spagetti sauce, he makes guitars too?" :laugh2: I thought WTF is she talking about. Played this thing for about 10 minutes and took it home. It actually sounded richer than the Big Baby, and for $100 I couldn't pass it up. Here it is:

Re: Damnit Norman......

What more can I say??? Mind you for $100 that is a sweet looking guitar and will serve your daughter extremey well. Mind you it could have been worse you might just as easily have got a parlour guitar.

I have a premonition :22: that something else is arriving later this week, which will make everyone sit up and notice :saeek:

Re: Damnit Norman......

nice score...sounds like good times on the back porch are soon coming!!!

Re: Damnit Norman......

I have a confession to make. The only guitar I have that isn't in on my gearpage is
my bass. It's a Carlo Robelli orange photocurly, which resembles an Ibanez Soundgear bass w/active pickups. I've thought of selling it for a couple hundred, but it's a decent bass, so I haven't.....mostly because it would cost a lot to replace it.

Re: Damnit Norman......

Holy SH!T......GJ owns a cheap Koren made instrument. I just called my insurance agent and added flood, hurricane and earthquake coverage to it....the world may end. :alcoholic :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2:

Seriously, I've been messing with this little guitar for the past 24 hours. Took it all apart, oiled the bridge and fretboard several times, sanded the saddle just slightly to lower the action a bit, so it's easier for my daughter to play, unglued...moved and re-glued the nut because it was shifted towards the treble side, and put a new set of the D'Addario acoustic strings you guys recommended on it, in extra light guage.

This is a really nice sounding guitar for $100. It's got a pretty rich sound, not thin and clunky. It beats the snot out of the cheap $299 Fender's, Yamaha's, Ibanez....ect. It even sounds better than the $299 Ovations. I know it's made of the cheapest possible cuts of rosewood, mahogany and spruce, but it doesn't sound like it. No on board electronics, but they'd be ****ty anyway on a guitar in this price range. I'll get her a new nut in a few months to make the action even better, but again, for the $$ this is a great little guitar.

I'll try to post a few clips this week if I can get my desktop up and running.

Re: Damnit Norman......

Nice score Jeff. Maybe next time I'm up your way, (we have relatives up in NC.), my granddaughter can jam with your daughter. ;)

Edit: pic removed. ;)

Actually, we were looking seriously at one of these, but she decided she wanted to go acoustic instead. And I've already bought her an amp. Guess I'll either have to sell that, or keep it for dad maybe. :laugh2:
