Well, it's about freakin' time I got around to writing a review of the compressor pedal I won from Butch's giveaway.
It's a Danelectro Surf N Turf Compressor. I've messed around with other Dan-o pedals before (though not this one) and my opinion has always been that they're great budget pedals. No, they won't get you the tone of boutique pedals, but they're very competitive with BOSS, DOD and such. They lack the metal case, but seem to be built sturdy enough.
This compressor is no different. I don't care for very much compressor, so this pedal will do the job for me - just a little bit to enhance a certain song or a part of it. When you max it out it can start sounding a little sickly, but that's not what I'm going for, anyway. As usual, my Blues Jr. likes it. Once Luke gets his speakers back and everything I plan on taking it over there to see how it sounds through some of his amps (if he'll let me, of course :laugh2
.
Thanks again for the pedal, Butch. I'm sure I'll get some use out of it.
