They're called stompboxes, not "trample"boxes....LOL. Are you totally serious? Those are pretty sturdy for electronic switches.

Well, the Boss switches are very similar as far as how they work to the Ibanez units. How your foot comes in contact with them is different. The Boss circuits are very reliable. I don't know of very many that have failed myself. I have a DD-2 from the early 80's that still works, footswitch and all.

If you break Ibanez switches, don't even consider a Fab in it's original form. I don't even have mine on my board, I use an old SD-1 too. In comparison to TSs and SDs, the Fab is more open sounding, less compressed, and has more output, it's a cool sounding circuit. I may try putting mine in a decent Hammond box sometime, but I haven't been in a huge rush to do it.

The upside is, it's only $15, and sometimes less, I grabbed mine out of a box of them at GC for $9, figured I couldn't go wrong on that.

can someone make a comparison to existing pedals the Fab-OD sounds like? Is it TS-ish? SOD-ish?

To my ears it is close to a Maxon OD808. Once I have played them side by side, I'll know better.

I just got a Fab distortion for my student... You want to hear my confession? It's the first pedal I've ever purchased :laugh2: and it's not even for me. (we needed it. His Crate's built in distortion was too ****ty... I don't even see how it's useable at all)

It arrived DOA :smack:

Opened it up, wiggled a few things back into place... it works, but I'm afraid to touch it now.

Sounds great.
