Danelectro Fab Pedals, Surface Mount??

Does anyone know if the Fab pedals (distortion, overdrive, etc) are surface mount circuits? Are they easily mod-able???

I have a few of those pedals. I have the Fab Tone and also the Cool Cat. The Cool Cat is one of my very favorite stereo chorus pedals. Don't know what surface mount means exactly. They don't look like they'd be to easy for ME to mod. Everything looks pretty small and tight in there. John (Stratdeluxer) could probably handle it though. Lew

John told me he wouldn't be able to mod my Fab Overdrive... so it sits in my basement...

Are we talking the older fullsize Fabtone distortion pedal in scarlet red? If so, I can mod it for you. I can't increase gain (who would want to), but I can decrease it to overdrive to distortion levels, add different op amps (quieter is better) and then give it asymetrical clipping for a sweeter (less cold) distortion. Turns it from a one trick pony to a distortion/overdrive workhorse. Good tone that isn't like everything else on the block and it still has plenty of distortion, though less saturation available at the peak of distortion.

I've bought three of these pedals and modded two. One has a blue LED. The other two are what i use to check out other options. The modded pedals are wicked for NMV amps. Mean distortion that doesn't sound nearly as transistorized as stock. Sounds quite organic through a cranked Mig-50.
