Hello everyone,
I've tried researching this topic a little but haven't found anyone else trying to do this specifically with these pedals. For the past several years I've been using a few of the old Danelectros through a Fender Vaporizer tube amp when I'm practicing or even recording sometimes. One of the pedals in particular (the DJ22) which is an octave/distortion effect is particularly my favorite when combined with the rest of my signal chain.
The issue I'm facing is that these boxes are inside a very cheap plastic chassis, and the switch is also just a plastic button that isn't as responsive as it would need to be for a live situation.. Is there a good method in removing the guts of this pedal and transferring them into a stronger metal box from StewMac that the holes could be drilled in the places they needed to be?
One of the concerns I have in doing this is that little fragile switch on the original pedal might be difficult to move over, and the other concern I have is how well it would work to replace that plastic switch button with a real metal footswitch. Here is a link to the Danelectro pedal, and another link to the empty pedal boxes I'm looking at on StewMac.. Any input would be greatly appreciated!
