Danelectro Tuna Melt Trem - Local shop has a NOS in the box for cheap. Any opinions?

Sadly a while back I was tight on money and sold my original 2 knob Voodoo Lab tremolo. Really miss it and I'd like to replace it with something else (until I get the $$ for another Voodoo Lab). Read about it and saw demos and it seems nice for the price.

I was pleased with my Dano Pepperoni phaser and was hoping the Tuna Melt would be a good buy also. Doubt it'll compare to my VL trem but hopefully it'll get me by in the meantime.

Anyone used a Tuna Melt before? Planning on placing it in the effects loop so hopefully any tone loss will be minimized. I know they have plastic cases and less than reliable switches so I'm mostly looking for sound opinions.

the trem part is fine, actually sounds pretty damn good. the buffer is a tone sucking blackhole but its probably no different than the other little dano's so if you dont mind the pepperoni then youll probably really like the tuna melt.

I noticed a little of the old tone suckage once I plugged straight back to the amp. Hoping if I try it in the efx loop it won't be so noticeable. The buffer in my amps loop seems to help "de suck" cheap pedals usually. A good buffer can be a good thing but boy can a bad buffer be a real bad thing. Glad they ditched them with the newer cool cat series.

Thanks for the input on the tuna melt. For $20 nib I didn't think I could loose too bad unless it just sounded horrible.
