Dankstar UFO

Re: Dankstar UFO

Amazing what an impulse response, L2 limiter and some reverb can do!
Sounds really nice; the fizz is gone and it sounds like it has a real sense of space. :)

edit: I am not implying that you didn't expend any effort or just slapped some plugins across the mix.

Good detection - good ears!

I used:

Poulin LeCab (G12H25s)
Waves Q10 Mono (lots of tweaking; kill the fizz, add thump, etc)

from there, signal to outboard SR&D Stereo Chorus for mild doubling

...stereo back in to DAW

...then an echo chamber buss on top for slight 'verb (Waves iR1 Stereo)

Master had API2500 compressor for a lil' punch and L1 Stereo limiter.

I think it sounds good, but I wonder if I scooped out a little too much midrange. That's me with EQ - can't ever make up my mind.

Re: Dankstar UFO

So hard to tell without it being sat in a mix!

I absolutley love the api 2500; by far my most-used compressor. (Kramer Pi comes in second)

Have you tried any of the EMI plugins yet? I have the REDD17/51 and RS56 EQ ... killer stuff.

The only suggestion I would make is that since you are using chorus for the doubling, if you have Waves InPhase, you can try to eliminate some of that washiness (unless that is what you are going for, of course).

Re: Dankstar UFO

pretty neat! makes the first one sound pretty harsh. wonder if it's the v30, the sm57, or the combination. while I don't love all the fizzy stuff in the original, I'd probably like a little bit more bite than the processed one - somewhere between the two. fun test.
