I just picked up a chorus today and bought joelap's Octavia/Fuzz pedal and, because of this, have considered putting together another pedalboard to "experiment" with. As of late I've been interested in post-rock bands like Sonic Youth and Explosions in the Sky, both bands have strange ambient sounds, clean picked passages, and crazy-nutso distortion. I think I've got two of those things covered since the Octavia/Fuzz sounds like it can get pretty nutso (and covers any low octave riffing) and the Chorus covers the clean parts and the occasional acidy warble on the most extreme settings. I don't really have experience with either kind of pedal so I think I have plenty of room to grow. I'll also be sticking the speaker output of the recently purschased Epiphone Valve Special into a 2x12 or 1x15 to cover the volume.
I figured if I add a delay/echo pedal that loops, like the Reel Echo, and since it sounds somewhat different than my trusty DD-3, the rig will be even closer to doing it's "experimental" job.
So, does anybody have experience with the Danelectro Reel Echo? or any suggestions to getting closer to my post-rock goal?
