Date of Manufacture On MIM Fenders...

Ok, I know that on MIM Fenders, you tell the year it was made by the first 3 digits of the serial number (MZ6=2006). But is there a way to tell by the serial number, the day it was assembled? On my newest MIM Tele, there is a date stamped on the underside of the pickguard but i figured that it was the day the pickguard was actually made or cut.

I think there is also a date stamped on these in the neck pocket, but again..wouldn't that be the date of the body's finishing or the day it came off the CNC machine?

If anyone has any ideas or facts on these...please reply, this is a question that just hit but its one that i've become very curious about.

Thanks!

That is helpful if someone wants to know the YEAR their guitar was made...but my thread asked if anyone knew anyway to tell when it was made down to the DAY.

The serial number only gives you an approximate date based on the leading letters and year numeral. The rest of the serial number has no real significance. The markings on the body, neck and/or pickguard tell when those components were made. You could contact Fender with the serial number and they could probably narrow it down for you, but WHY?

Re: Date of Manufacture On MIM Fenders...

There's not really a major reason why...its just that someone said something in another post earlier today about their guitars "birthday" and i got to thinking, yeah what is my guitars birth-DAY? Just one of those things that make you go hmmm....
