Dave Murray Strat - Lefty

Hi all,

I've followed the latest thread made by "The Daly" about his homemade Dave Murray Stratocaster.

Six months ago, I decided to start making the same project but for lefthanded people.

I spent a lot of time seeking all the parts that I needed. Here is the point.
I've finally found out all those stuffs.

I hope you'll enjoy this thread as much as I'm enjoying building this strat !

(Hope you'll understand my poor english, my mother tong is French) :naughty:

The Body :

It's a Fender Stratocaster Japan Made Reissue 56'. Originally made in 93.
The serial number is N034324. "C" Shape - Radius 7.25 - 21 Vintage Frets
Useless to say that it is very rare to find this kind of neck in this "near mint" state!

I've put on it some GOTOH Vintage Tuners.
I'll remove the nut to replace for a Graphtec one.

The Body :

It's a Fender Stratocaster Japan Made Reissue 62'. I think made in the late 80's. It's black and in SSS pickup Configuration.
I started to dig the humbucker holes and bind the entire cavity with copper shielded tape.

My camera is dead. I used my iPhone to take the pics. Sorry for the poor quality...

I didn't take pictures of the original body. I had already started to dig (a little) :banghead:

Hi, I'm new to this forum. I joined when I saw your project, as I have just begun a similar project for myself. Nice job getting the reissue neck. So far I have a MIM black lefty strat and the chrome pickup bezels (not much, but a start). I'm going to make a few changes for my own sake, like locking tuners, graphtech nut, maybe a different pickup combination, who knows?

Do you have any more pictures of your progress?

i love dave murray's old black strat sooo much. i love that it looks like a classic '50's strat that was hopped up, as opposed to a guitar that was a purpose-made metal axe from day one. that guitar and adrian's hopped-up deluxe are the maiden guitars in my book. glad to see one as a lefty. good luck.
