Re: daves guitar shop has some amazing stuff!

I love living only about half a mile away from there. I can see that collection everyday if i wanted except i imagine i would get kicked out eventually. Its also to bad he doesn't have his amp collection up yet. He has so many fender amps its unreal. Im pretty sure his collection is around the 5 million dollar mark last count.

It should be illegal to keep that much booty locked up just beyond reach.

Great collection of pieces. They are nice folks to deal with as well.

Visit the store, talk to Dave- he's let me fondle a few pieces... Not to mention some of the "for sale" pieces on the floor.

Slade would have to pick the nastiest guitars in the collection to drool over.

However, as far as story and coolness factor goes, this one takes the prize....in my opinion.

Stratocaster '63, Burgundy Mist, Purchased locally from the wife of the original owner. A kindly gentleman brought this guitar into my first store back in '82 for a restring & set up. I flipped when I saw the guitar and I told him if he ever parted with it to please think of me. He said he'd never part with it as it was the best playing guitar he ever had his hands on. Over the years he became a good customer & friend and he would drop in often just to say hi. One day I get a call from his wife telling me that he had died! It was a sad time for me indeed. But one thing he made clear to his wife was to make sure that I got the guitar after he was gone. I'll treasure this one till my dying day, just like he did!

The nice thing about Dave's is that they'll do anything you want them to, for a price ;)

Their guitar tech has a degree from a nearby college in guitar repair that includes luthiership. It's quite cool. I've seen total refins in their back room

Fender Marauder... seriously, that's one of my dream guitars.

I just want to get my hands on it so I can figure out what all the switches do :laugh2: No it really seems perfect. Jag wiring (apparently), Mustang trem and bridge, 3 pickups, blocks/binding, cool headstock shaped like a ***** head :D

But actually, that seafoam green Jag might be the most beautiful thing I've ever seen... so few of them were actually painted cool colors (though more relative to others)

I've seen that headstock on somthing else before! I just can't remember what.

Re: daves guitar shop has some amazing stuff!

they never did produce them... that's a prototype.

the headstock was kind of on the fender starcaster.

early marauder protos were uglier (strat trem and with pickups hidden beneath the guard) but still kind of cool

Re: daves guitar shop has some amazing stuff!

woops my bad. Yeah the Starcaster! That is what I was thinking of!

How do you get pickups under the guard? I wanted to do this at one time... I just couldnt figure out how to get it done.
