David Gilmour Pickguard FS

The Dali

MeltedClockologist
Hi everyone... I recently built a David Gilmour stratocaster (you can see my build thread here -->Gilmour Build Thread ) and the big issue was figuring out how to mount the stealth switch. I searched around forever and couldn't find anything pre-manufactured that was not $200+. So, I did it myself (after thinking about 10 or 15 different options) and it turned out really sweet.

So, after I finished my the build I had an extra bracket and some pots so a friend of mine and I decided to wire a second pickguard, again set up like Gilmour's signature strat. Since I was very frustrated that nothing like this was available when I was building my strat so I am thinking someone out there might be looking for something like this as well. Depending on demand, I am thinking about possibly building a few of these for sale.

Let me know if you are interested in this pickguard build... all the items are brand new. The pickguard is completely wired and ready for your pickups! The specifications:

  • 8-hole single-ply vintage black pickguard
  • Custom routing for stealth switch
  • Custom recessed switch bracket & mini-switch
  • 1 CTS 250k volume pot
  • 2 CTS no-load 250k tone pots
  • USA Fender 5-way switch
  • Fender white switch tip and VTT knobs
  • Orange Drop .047 capacitor
  • Switchcraft output jack
  • Vintage "push-back" wiring
  • Ground leads for bridge and body grounding (with claw)
  • Completely wired, including Gilmour's neck pickup mod

I've included a few pictures of my original pickguard. I'll get a picture up of the actual guard for sale up this evening. I have one available, but if there is interest I can work on putting a few more together for you.

Looking for $125 including shipping & PayPal fees.

Thanks!

Quite a bit of work here, especially with the edition of the mini-toggle.

What's up with the mini switch?

Re: David Gilmour Pickguard FS

Hi - do you mean what is the switch for? The recessed switch turns on the neck pickup in any position of the 5-way. Essentially, it creates a Bridge+Neck in position 1 and Bridge+MIddle+Neck in position 2.

Position 3, 4, 5 are unchanged (middle+neck; middle+neck; neck only).

This is the modification that David Gilmour uses on his signature Fender Stratocaster (a $3750+ guitar).

I thought that no-load pots cannot work for volume, just tone. I tried them once for volume and didn't work.

Re: David Gilmour Pickguard FS

Yeah, sorry for the confusion. The tone pots are no-load and the volme is a standard CTS 250k pot. I updated the post.
