DD and Alder?

Hey, I was just wondering if anyone had a Duncan Distortion in an alder-bodied guitar. How does it sound? I'm worried it would be too bright or shrill..

Re: DD and Alder?

I've got one better for ya. I have a pair of Distortions in an alder bodied guitar. It is not too bright, in fact it has just enough snap to it. It's also got a maple bolt on neck and a Floyd, and I can't stand bright guitars. So if it's not too bright for me, you should be fine. It is a very aggressive metal guitar, but with the 5 way switch to split the pickups, it can also clean up very very nicely.

too bright? NO WAY! as a matter of fact the DD is very fat sounding in most woods except maple or hard ash
poplar, basswood, alder, mahogany all take to the DD very well
it is a real ass kicker with a ROAR you have to hear to believe!

I have an alder Strat/DD bridge , and it sounds great! I do not think the DD would sound bright or shrill in any guitar for that matter.
