Custom sounds better split. It's also about the most ridiculously versatile pup I can think of. You're probably just a parallel switch away from a genuine PAf-tone.

I've realized the older i get the more I prefer lower output pups...they just have more "soul" for lack of a better term (I hate getting all "mystical" about gear, but...)
The Custom is my preference of the two..it's right at the line I prefer not to cross anymore...it's truly a "beefed up" PAF...it's got the old school PAF growl and bite while still being a higher output design that can handle more modern styles/sounds without crapping out like a PAF would... The Distortion is a very cool pickup for total gain , but I just find it less...hmmm...able to let the natural sound of the guitar and the player to come through...more sterile I guess... :shrug:
