Dead D string on HB?

Tubular

New member
Hello,
I have a humbucker with adjustable pole pieces that seems to not be picking up any sound out of the D string.
Any ideas?
Fixes?
Thanks

Welcome to the forum!

I have no clue though, hahaha. Maybe the Pole piece isn't touching the magnet. Just a guess

Are you using electric guitar stings? (I know it sounds stupid, but my friend used and acoustic guitar string for a quick replacement and you could barely hear it.)

I'll change the strings, Thanks for the idea

Well if youre using electic strings, it shouldn't be a problem. If the D-string doesn't make noise on the other pickups (if there are any) you should probably change the strings.

You could also bend the string to see if getting it over some other coils makes more noise.

No idea. Have you tried adjusting the poles? I'd try screwing them in, see if it makes a difference. A
Do both coils have adjustable poles?

Re: Dead D string on HB?

O K, I replaced the string and although I did get more output than before it is still 2/3 the output of the rest even after adjusting the pole piece up and or down. So what I tried was to switch pole pieces with the corresponding D on the bridge pickup, what do you know the pole piece is the culprit.
The question is now how do I fix, re or de magnetize the pole piece?
Thanks

Just take it to a hardware store and get a new one the same size. I gotta say this is a bizarre problem, to me anyway, but I'm no expert in any way whatsoever.
