Dean Z Jammer II

Tell me about! Like, what wood is the body, neck and fretboard made out of?

I know it is from the 80s. It's a strat style body, pointy headstock, HSS pickup configuration, 5 way switch, 3 pots, bolt-on neck and a 2 point tremolo.

A friend gave this guitar to me and I know nothing about it! It needs a bit of love. Goin to put new pots, switch, pickups (maybe, depending how the stock ones sound.) and tremolo.

It also WEIGHS A TON!!!

I'll post some pictures of it later tonite after work.

Late 80s Import SuperStrat like beast as you posted. I have never owned one. Night be alright once put in working order.

Re: Dean Z Jammer II

My first guitar was a Dean Jammer III and I still have it (21 years now). The original specs are the same as you listed: strat style body, pointy (Jackson-ish) headstock, HSS pickup configuration, 5 way switch, 3 pots, bolt-on neck and a 2 point tremolo. I've modded mine alot though. The body on mine is plywood. Neck is maple with a rosewood fretboard. I have looked for more info on these guitars but have not had much luck.

Re: Dean Z Jammer II

Plywood huh? Is it ridiculously heavy?

Well here she is. Kinda rough.... The fret board looks "ebonized". Painted black.

Re: Dean Z Jammer II

Looks very close to mine. Mine has dot inlays and the headstock just said Dean Jammer III. It didn't have the Z. Many years ago I sanded the headstock and painted it plain black. I've also painted the body several times. It was originally red with a black pickguard. I wish I had some pics of how it originally looked, but I didn't have a camera back then.

Sounds like it looked pretty cool. Do you have any pics of it in its current condition?

Re: Dean Z Jammer II

I've had alot of different pickups in this guitar over the years. The current pickguard and electronics are from a Fender Mexican Strat. I've had 3 different Duncan Humbuckers in it (JB, Distortion & Screamin' Demon), a Dimarzio Super Distortion and an EMG 81.

It was originally red, then black, then silver, then black again, then white and now it's back to red.

Here's how it looks now.
