Decent Acoustics?

So what are some decent acoustics? Looking to spend around 400 dollars or less. I Liked the Blue Deans I see, and it has the neck access.

What is better for harmonizing two guitars? Steel or Nylon?

Re: Decent Acoustics?

I really don't know much about nylon strings, so I'll leave that to someone else. For steel strings, you have several possibilities in that price range. Look for a used one to maximize your dollar. I picked up a '67 Gibson LG-0 for less than that. It needs a little work, but you could get one that is just fine for $400, I would think. That should also get you in the price range of some nice used Taylors.

Don't expect to get something equivalent of a high-end, handmade acoustic, but you can easily find an easy to play, fair sounding acoustic for $400.

Re: Decent Acoustics?

Yamaha have both steel and nylon and they are great value and build.

Re: Decent Acoustics?

Thanks, I would really love a Gibson LG-0 since I'm a big Gibson Fan. I see they are on the dot for 400 @ ebay. Is the Inlay Pearl or Flat White Plastic by chance? Would a electric Acoustic be better off though for live settings instead of a Mic, or even when recording?

I'll check out yamahas.

Re: Decent Acoustics?

If you can find a nice Ovation Custom Balladeer from the 70's or early 80's...they're cheap used and some are excellant guitars. Lew

Re: Decent Acoustics?

Also check out Seagull - the S6 series start at about $350, and they're awesome guitars and an even better value. :bigthumb:

Re: Decent Acoustics?

I've been looking at Blueridge acoustics, they are based off of prewar Golden Era guitars, and are pretty inexpensive. The one I was looking at had Brazillian Rosewood sides, a solid spruce top, rosewood bridge and fretboard, and was $379.99 USD.

Re: Decent Acoustics?

Lots of great suggestions above, try the Washburn acoustics as well. The DC series and the F series. The Breedlove Atlas series can be had cheap as well, great sound and something different. Look for a solid top if possible.
