I'm going to treat myself to a new amp once I get my new job and I've narrowed it down to two amps. I'm planning on making the new amp my main that I will play for a few years. I'm very eclectic when I make music and will be playing every*ting in the rock to metal genres, and I do mean every*ting. So I've picked out amp that can do that.

The CHOOSING!:

VHT Deliverance 60

or

Mesa Mk IV

Yeah, I know very different amps, but I would seriously be happy with either one, and would create a pedal board to compliment/ work with whichever I get. I'm very aware of the one channel-ness of the Deliverance, but like I said I'm cool with that and would make it work.

Used they are roughly around the same price so I'm stuck.

Helps MEEE!

Tough tough choice. I own a pittbull UL and a mk. 4 and they're eqqlly great in my books.

The deliverance is supposed to be rad as well.

I say mk.4 b/c it's sooooo versatile

deliverance is no mach to the MKIV!
One has a looser distortion ,with a tad "solid state" feeling
The other one is a legend amp ,tight as a nut and versatile as hell.
MKIV is a legend and has lot's of poosibilities. You can see blues ,jazz and metal players with it.It's a good investment!

I have a Mark IV and it is a great amp. I have the 112 EVM combo that I use with a matching 112 EVM Theile cab. I also play in a cover band that does EVERYTHING--blues, rock, jazz, country--and I use multiple guitars, including a Taylor acoustic, a Danelectro 12 string, and a 5-string banjo. A G&L Legacy is my Number One; but I will also use a 2HB guitar, like a Gibson Les Paul, Ibanez Ghostrider or 335 throughout the night. This rig has a small footprint, which is nice for tight stages; and the with the variable power settings I can get a good sound at low volume or let it roar.

This amp is heavy, at close to 80 lbs. with the EVM, and for some folks the weight could be a problem. I don't have a road case--I use a Tuki cover, because the case adds so much weight. For touring though, a road case is a necessity.

The other down-side: A STEEP learning curve. Be ready to spend a lot of time with the amp and the Owner's Manual, learning all of its secrets. I only use a couple of different settings, and after four years haven't begun to explore the depth of tone this amp has. Not an amp to get if you are easily frustrated with not being able to find "Your Tone". But for the most part, just about everything that comes out of the Mark IV sounds good--if you are doing your part.

The Deliverance has an AMAZING tone

Everytime I hear one I drool! Then again that could be a result of being hit on the head too many times.

I go with the VHT, because of it's simplicity. Simplicity is a good thing. You don't need max versatility in the amp, if your using a pedal board and so forth. A KT88 power amp section is perfect for that as well.
