Degaussed magnet tone changes?

Been searching various threads on degaussed magnets. In general does degaussing a magnet flatten out the eq in addition to weakening the strength?

Alnico 2 degaussed: looses some of the mid bump and gets slightly brighter?

Alnico 5 degaussed: looses some highs and lows and gains some midrange?

Degaussing, up a certain extent and/or amount, would affect the mid-lows, making'em less prominent, leaving the highs relatively untouched.

The depth of this effect, or how it's perceived, also varies if the magnet is isotropic (A2, A3, A4 and UOA5) or anisotropic (A5, A6 A8, A9).

That is interesting! What is the general trend concerning isotropic vs anisotropic and degaussing?

In a nutshell, you need to degauss more with anisotropic mags.

It's a trial-and-error process, as the degaussing amount will vary with each manufacturing batch of mags, even if they all are the same alnico grade.
