Degaussing a SD INVADER?

I've had this pickup for years, and I have grown very accustomed to it, but tends to overpowered even medium output middle & neck pickups,,, and that's with the p/u seated pretty low in the body. So, without replacing anything just yet, is degaussing an option for 'taming' the fury of this pickup, without killing its rich sound?? Does SD offer this, and how much would it probably be, and does it make sense?

Re: Degaussing a SD INVADER?

Unfortunately, Seymour Duncan does not offer, as a service, degaussing ceramic magnets.

Re: Degaussing a SD INVADER?

Seems to me that if you are comfortable with taking it apart a little, you could remove the smaller magnets and replace them with spacers. This should bring the output down a little, I would think.

What Nacho said
or swap the large ceramic bar magnet with an alnico magnet & leave the 2 spacer magnets in ....you will need something to shim under the alnico magnet with it being thinner (cardboard or a popsicle stick )

Interesting. Does spacer magnets just influence the output and not the sound? Could be interesting to test this on a BW too then...

Re: Degaussing a SD INVADER?

If they are the same type of magnet, then they just give 'more'.......but stronger magnetic field does influence tone too. There isn't one without the other.
