Degaussing A5

What effect does degaussing an A5 have on tone? Does it come closer to the sound of an A4? Does it just sound like an A5 with less string pull? Thoughts please.

Re: Degaussing A5

many people describe the a4 as a degaussed a5, thats all i can say which im sure you probably know hence the post lol

Re: Degaussing A5

it'll reduce the bass and treble a bit, and the treble will get a bit sweeter, kinda like A4. It's a softer sound, with more 'give' and has more character and detail to my ears. I personally prefer A5 to A4, but there are some here who like A4 a lot as well. It's a personal preference thing.

Yes, I assumed as much, but wanted to get thoughts from the community. Why degauss then if you can just get an A4?

Re: Degaussing A5

Because it's easier to degauss an A5 in the hand then going out to find an A4 if you don't have one. It's not exactly like an A4 anyway.
