Delta Blues

OK being as no-one seems interested in Rodrigo, I've just done a little Delta Blues track.

You are back in the days of the old steamboats on the Mississippi and you are playing poker. Every card that turns is a friendly card. You've got some cheap whisky and an even cheaper tart on your arm. It's gonna be your night.

Lee.

PS. All played with fingers - no pick.

Re: Delta Blues

I liked this, but it didn't necessarily make me think of "Delta" type blues. More like mountain blues, or maybe bluegrass. I'm not sure really, I just like it.

These last few clips you've posted make me want to dig my acoustic back out of the closet.
(Even though I know you didn't use acoustic - they just have that "vibe".)

Re: Delta Blues

Sounds like a "white boy" playin'....now I can hear it with a rhythm section straight like that, but if you wanna Delta feel, try it with a slow bounce beat.

Now go get some soul..............

Re: Delta Blues

Cool tune. Reminds me a bit of J.J. Cale. I don't hear much of a delta feel tho. I don't think Charlie Patton, Robert Johnson and others spent much time on riverboats gamblin'. They did spend a lot of time playing juke joints and impromptu get-togethers. And I'm sure they drank their fair share of cheap whiskey and hung out with any number of tarts :)

Re: Delta Blues

cool
I agree with the JJ Cale comment. That's a compliment, because he's one artist who never made too many concessions to being commercial. I saw him recently, and he can play - sounded terrific with a Dano Convertible through a Peavey Classic.
I have an album from a few years back called "Travelogue". It has several tunes that you'd never hear on radio, because they're too good.

Re: Delta Blues

Well to be honest, I was thinking JJ when I played it.

I only put the delta in the title in the hope that someone would take a listen.

It's the sort of stuff I'd like to sit out on a veranda and play on a warm summer night.

You have to remember that I'm an white English builder and not a black southern poker player. But it was fun to play.
