DeMarzio Super Disto

so... I have this Dm SD pup I bought in 1972 to fill an empty hole in a guitar I had at the time.... it was way out of balance with the other pickup & eventually I pulled it out and put it in a box. now.... 46 years later (really?)(wow).... I think I should put it in something. my first thought is to have it by itself, but on the other hand, maybe it needs a partner to make kool blended tones. what would you do with it? BTW, I gave it to a friend (killer player) & put it in his LP a couple months ago & it was great for live, but too noisy for his studio work, so I got it back. what to do?

I like the one I took out of my 81 Hamer paired with an APHn. They blend well output-wise and character-wise.

If it really was 1972, then it's a collectible pre-massproduction custom build.

It might be worth something?

Re: DeMarzio Super Disto

At the end of the day, blended subtle tones are not what I do with a SD

I will say though, that the SD + a PAF gives me one of the best acoustic sim sounds I have. Ha!

Re: DeMarzio Super Disto

hmmmmmm..........APHn.... maybe. thinkin a PAF would be out of balance? and ya... bought it in 72 but maybe 73. its the original type, not potted, 2 wires to the coils (can't split), something like 13-14k . I talked to a Demarz rep about it long ago... his suggestion was to buy a new pair. any other ideas?
