Did a little experiment to a CC and liked the results a lot

I am using all CC's in my guitars bridge spot
'simply put these are the best things i have tried in the more vintage toned pups but with more output and the closest sound to eddies older tone i ever tried in a production pup
they remain faithful enough tonally "ala pafish" but have a much stronger punch and output(i have a real deal paf and paf clones like the virtual pafs and the seth,59,classic 57,burstbuckers)
anyway i wanted to hear a CC with a aged magnet so i pulled a alnico II from
my 61' gibson paf i bought from Ebay and slapped it into the CC
PERFECT!!!!!!!:bigok: what a perfect paf tone this gets!
it has the CC type tone but it is now less compressed and a lot more vintagey/ classic toned much more akin to those other paf types i own or even the real paf! sounds more like eddies older modded paf than the duncan 78' or evenly voiced harmonics pup
now i know most dont own a 40 year old paf with alnico II l or a duncan anitiquity you want to pull the dunaged alnico II from
but be assured i can tell you haw to achieve the same thing from a brand new duncan alnico II or ANY alnico II
what you need to do is remove the metal screw retainer bar from any CC
now after doing that you will have a gap on ONE side(0.42")
screw side obviously
now all you need to do is to "CENTER" the magnet in the middle of the screws and slugs and whent you retighten the baseplate screws do not go too tight or the pups coils will tilt since the retainer bar has been removed.
this is not exactly the same as dimarzios airbuckers
thier gaps are .042" per side and they use alnico 5's in all thier buckers
this mod i did makes a 0.24" gap on each side now and i asssure you this fakes out the pup to think it has a well aged magnet and it sounds as such.
I compared the 40 year old gibson alnico II in one CC with a new duncan CC alnico II modded this way and they sound exactly THE SAME:smokin:

want the older EVH tone? you got it with this CC:usa2:

you can do this mod to any DUNCAN without any harm to the pup at all and it is reversable with little work
the JB i tried this to sounded sweeter than any new JB i ever heard

on a side note the 1961 gibson paf does not sound as vanhalenish or just as overall sweet or nice as these modded CC's and the CC's cost me about $50 each and the mod is free and the 61' paf cost me over 15 times as much!
