Did some pickup swapping tonight.

I love the TV Jones in my Iceman but not as a main pickup. I recently put the Iceman 1980 V4 in the neck of my Tele for poops and giggles and fell in love with it all over again. The V4 is beat to hell so I figured I would cover it before putting it in the Iceman.

I put the TV Jones from the Iceman in the neck of my Tele and lightened up the guitar with a new pickguard. I just got done I am going to tweak pickup heights tomorrow and give them a run for their money. Sorry for the crappy pictures

The lower chip in the Iceman is a Fishman PowerChip, the bridge in the Iceman is a piezo pickup. The covered chip above that is a Stellartone tonestlyer knob, the best tone knob I have ever used. You can roll off the highs without getting muddy or set it for true bypass.

Yep, that is a spilt hotrails in the Tele bridge - thanks for the compliments.

Re: Did some pickup swapping tonight.

What kind of 3-way is that in the Iceman? I don't think I've ever seen one before with 6 terminals.

Re: Did some pickup swapping tonight.

Securb signature model Iceman, eh? Not even Rev. Billy G has anything this cool ;).

We made that. To get the correct switching between the Fishman PowerChip, the magnetic pickup and smart jack we needed to add two more contacts on the outside of the switch. If you plug in a Fishman/Parker cable you can run the piezo to one source and the magnetic to another. There are some neat things you can do with that depending on what kind of brownies you eat before you jam.

Thanks for the kind words on the axes

I was pleasantly surprised. You never know what is going to happen when you mix two distinctly different pickups. With the hotrails split and both pickups on there is a great jangly rhythm sound. Super clean and articulate.

Re: Did some pickup swapping tonight.

aw man, that blacked out tele was tickling my happy place.

Re: Did some pickup swapping tonight.

Let us know how that sounds. I don't know much about filtertrons, but from what i understand, even though they are built as a humbucker, they sound more like single coils.

I think they sound a lot like humbuckers. Very Malcolm Young. That being said clean they do have a lot of that "sweetness" you get with a great Strat pickup. It is funny that the best Tele neck tone I have dialed in to date has come from a bridge pickup.

I gotcha.

That iceman looks great!

TV Jones makes a great pup. I believe you would be hard pressed to find an all around pup than a classic+....JB aside of course!
