Diezel Herbert Clean with Distortion Pedal problem...

Hi,
though i have my Diezel Herbert for more then two years now, I've never tried a Distortion Pedal on the clean Channel (1). Sure you normally got enough Distortion with the herbert, and I got. but I just wanted to try something new. I got one of those Hughes and Kettner Warp pedals, not use for longer time, but it sounds well with my old Hughes & Kettner AM 64.
Must say I didn't get one sensful sound out of the diezel with that pedal and i don't know why!
the channel was set clean, i tried EQing for long time added Midcut, took away Midcut, everything... after a time i tried the seriell loop, even worse... there was no guitar or cable problem.
Is there someone who owns an Herbert too and has similar experience? or can someone give me an advise?
thanks
don

Re: Diezel Herbert Clean with Distortion Pedal problem...

I have a VH4 not a Herbert but normally OD pedals on a sparkling clean channel sound like hell. If don't like a FDII on the clean channel at all. I do like the FDII on channel two when it is already distorting a bit (like a Plexi or something). Set the clean channel so it is just starting to break-up a bit and hit it with the pedal.
