They are both based on BG correct? The Gilly seems to be hotter more Humbucker like? I'm more interested in Billys Vintage tones.............

Re: Difference between a BG1400 Tele stack and a Gilly?

Also........does the Gilly need a new more humbucker friendly pot like 500K? Or can I keep my current Fender 250k? Thanks!!

Are you talking about the brand BG pickups?
The guy that makes them is Brian something. BG is his initials, not Billy Gibbons.

Ahhhhhh. I assumed the SD custom shop BG1400 was a Billy Gibbons pick up also.

Ok then. Anyone have any experience with the Gilly? Do you need to change out the pots to 500K?

Thoughts opinions?

The pearly gates and the red devil sets are Gibbons pickups.
I searched the Duncan site for both BG1400 and Gilly and came up with nothing. I’ve never heard of a Duncan pickup with those names. (???)

Re: Difference between a BG1400 Tele stack and a Gilly?

My thought is that the Gilly is designed with stock pots in mind. The Gilly is still designed to sound like a Tele pickup, while the BG reminds me more of a P90.

billy used them in his esquires, still probably does in some. he has A LOT of guitars. the gilly is a newer pup that came out before the red devils, havent tried one. the bg1400 is a fat sounding tele stack

I'm getting a Gilly........I just hope I can use a stock Fender 250k pot Instead of going 500k. I'm leaving the stock neck so we shall see

Re: Difference between a BG1400 Tele stack and a Gilly?

I'm sure you can, I used the stock 250k pots with the BG1400 and it sounds great.

I think it was designed with 250k in mind. If it is too dark for you, you can always go to 500k- it isn't a big deal.
