Difference between Neck and Bridge PUPs

I have a Telecaster that has a SD SH-1 Bridge Pickup mounted in the Neck position. The screws are located toward the neck. My question: What is the difference between a SH-1 Bridge pickup and an SH-1 Neck pickup? Are they wound differently, have different magnets... My SH-1 does not really sound mellow, even though it's located in the neck position, which is what is prompting this question, but don't know if that's due to the Tele itself.

Thanks!

Not much difference at all between neck and bridge models. One is just wound a tiny bit hotter than the other (the bridge that is).

A bridge pickup also should be slightly darker than a neck pickup to compensate for more treble and less output at that position. So I'd say you have the neck version. Especially in an Ash body I could see it being described as not "mellow". In my opinion an APH-1 (Alnico 2 Pro) would sound more mellow for your application, but I'll let others fill in. Remember to play with the tone control, roll it back to 7...
