I was wondering what differences there are between the 2x12 closed back orange cab and a 2x12 closed back rectifier cab. I found where the orange cab is actually a little bigger and heavier, but they're both birch with 2 V30s. What sound differences do you get out of the two cabs?

Well, I'd have to do some sort of shoot out to answer this correctly, I will say though, that most mesa cabs seem to have huge low end, while orange cabs are sort of in between marshall and mesa cabs, through my ears.

Astrozombie is 100% right when he says that the best option is playing both.
If that is not possible, I will confirm that when I played both ( a year and a half ago ) in a shootout, the mesa cab had a more present low end, that made it sound ''bigger'' than the orange, where the orange had a sound that was more vintage to my ears.
Keep in mind that the cab for you will almost entirely depend on what amp you are driving through it, and what sound you are going for.
So, spill the beans : what are you playing?

Im playing a Vox VT50 right now and running it thru my mesa cab. But im in the market to get either a new head or possibly a new head and new cab. The problem here in central virginia is that there isn't any one place that sells orange, mesa, and marshall. I'm looking at a couple marshall heads and a couple mesa heads. Just trying to get a feel for the orange cabs and how much different they were before i went and played anything.
