Differences between the JB and the Distiortion?

Hello there! My name's Filipe, and i wanted to know if anyone has ever used both pickups and can tell me how different from the JB is the Distortion...
I have a 7-string custom built guitar(mahogany body and neck/rosewood fingerboard/59' neck - JB bridge), and i'm thinking of trying the distortion in the bridge, since sometimes i can't get the heavy tone i want.
So, if anyone answers, thanks in advance. =]

JB has more mids less bass and less treble. The DD has more output. Think 80's metal vs. 90's metal

I dont know much about the DD, but the JB sounds to me to be thin, and flat. As far as I'm concerned it has NO balls (But we've got the biggest balls of them all :kabong:

A5 mag for JB, Cermanic for DD that's pretty much the difference, same pup different mags.

Honestly, for a 7 string, you may want to try the Custom. It sounds bigger than both.

Custom in bridge = ****ing cool.

707 in bridge = no contest.

thanks for the replies =P ...and yeah, that's basically kinda what i thought about the Distortion, that it has similar characteristics but more output and since it has different magnets it'd sound a little more "darker"...But i never thought of the Custom though...i'll search for some sound clips then...thanks for the tips!

Hey, thanks for the sound refference man! I really liked the custom sound...it's definately one of the sorts of heavy sounds i'm looking for, and comparing to the clips i heard that were played with the distortion, the custom indeed seemed to sound bigger, although in the site it says to be a less "agressive" pickup.
I'm in doubt though, if i'd get that more tight/compressed distorted sound with this pickup. I think i would indeed, since i can get it with the JB already.
If indeed i get to but, it'll definatelly be a great dilemma to choose between those two...hehe =P Thanks for the help!
