I don't use ProTools anymore, and I am looking to get a more versatile audio interface, so the good ol' MBox is going up for sale.
This is the original MBox, not the current (and overpriced, mind you) MBox 2. Specs:
- Audio quality up to 24 bit, 48 kHz
- Works with included ProTools, or any other DAW that supports ASIO (Cubase and SONAR do, that I know of)
- 2 audio inputs; balanced XLR, balanced TRS, or unbalanced
- Mic, line, and instrument level selector.
- Built-in very quiet Focusrite mic pres with 48V phantom power
- 2 digital coax inputs
- 2 balanced TRS outputs
- 2 inserts
- USB connection to PC or Mac
- Direct zero-latency monitoring level
- Headphone outputs on front and back
- Requires no wall power; runs entirely off the USB port
Is nice! I'm also including the following:
- ProTools LE 6.3, Mac and Windows versions
- Reason Adapted for Digidesign
- Ableton Live
- MBox Factory plug-ins (includes some really nice JoeMeek stuff)
- The USB dongle you will need to authorize the above on your computer
- A USB cable
- All the manuals, registration codes, etc., which miraculously I still have
- My undying gratitude
Price includes regular parcel post shipping to Canada and the contiguous States. For shipping to other locales, please PM me. I accept Interac e-mail transfer from Canadians, and PayPal from everyone. I will ship as soon as your funds clear my account.
Even if you decide you don't want ProTools and would rather use your own DAW software, this is a lot of stuff for 200 bones. The MBox itself is a really nice piece of gear, and sounds better than most other interfaces in its price range. The mic pres are nice enough that you won't have to worry about outboard ones for a while.
If you're interested in recording and want to step up to a pro-quality system, this is for you. If you've never recorded on your computer before, this is a great way to get started.
One thing to note: if you are running Windows, I can't guarantee ProTools will be compatible with your PC. It's a tricky piece of software. It works fabulously for some people, and poorly for others. I do know it's definitely not Vista compatible. If you're using a Mac, you should be fine.
If you buy my MBox, it is with the understanding that ProTools may not work on your PC. I can't offer you tech support, but Digidesign has a good user forum for that. I accept no responsibility for your computer being incompatible with ProTools. Visit Digidesign's website for more info on which PC's are compatible and which are not.
I don't mean to scare anyone away - just being honest and open about the deal. In any case, this is still a good deal even if you throw the ProTools CD in the trash.
