Digital home recording studios - Korg D3200 vs Boss BR-1600

What do you guys think about these home recording studios that are all in one package? Our current portable studio is the Boss BR-8. It's served us well, but the unit saves to zip disks, and we'd also like a unit that offers more simultaneous recording options (currently, our 8 won't even record more than one XLR and one 1/4" at once). Not to mention, we're nearly out of zip disks, which are expensive and increasingly difficult to find. In other words, we've outgrown what we've got, and it's time for an upgrade.

We're looking at the Korg D3200 and the Boss BR-1600. The two units offer a lot of the same features. The advantage of the Boss BR-1600 is our familiarity with it. The control layout and operation is nearly identical to the BR-8 we have now. The advantage of the Korg D3200 is the capability to record 4 more simultaneous tracks than the Boss (though I'm not real sure how big of an advantage that is), as well as the obvious double amount of simultaneous playback tracks.

I'm more than willing to listen to other digital home recording solutions as well. Just know that whatever solution you come up with will have to come in at around the same price as the options above, and as of right now we do not have a computer to dedicate to this. We also work in a very tight space, so these compact all-in-one units are a great space saver.

Any help is greatly appreciated... as is patience. I've still got a lot to learn about recording the music I make. Thanks.

I have a D32XD, ( not the same as the D3200) that I have recorded all of my recent tracks on. I freakin love it. Mastering and FX are excellent, touch screen makes it very easy to use, and it just sounds great.
