digitech bad monkey

Re: digitech bad monkey

Really good for the money. The high and low controls are really great features you dont get on many other ODs. I think it sounds best on a clean channel for a couple different things but I know theres people here who like it on top of distortion. I tried it as a solo boost but I thought it took away from my solo tone.

Oh I forgot that the switch can get messed up over time. I have to step on mine pretty hard.

i wouldnt buy a digitech pedal. ive owned 2. metal master and the grunge. the grunge sounded like crap and the metal master was good for a small practice amp but that was it. ive never tried the bad monkey but my experience with digitech is just subpar. dont want to rain on your parade if your considering one.

You can't really comment on the Bad Monkey if your only experience is the stuff Digitech took over from DOD a few years ago. You'd be right about those - they were cheaply made and sounded pretty bad.

The Bad Monkey has a lot more in common with a nice TS808 clone than any of those other pedals...

Re: digitech bad monkey

well if thats the case go for it. i was just not impressed with the digitechs that i had.

Re: digitech bad monkey

+1 on the switch going bad. I've had mine for...well, since they came out i believe. If you don't want to spend over 50 bucks on an Overdrive, than that's the one you want. Good all around pedal.

Re: digitech bad monkey

I'd say it's wicked for the amount of money you're spending, I put it up against a couple boss overdrives, a super overdrive and just the stock one and it sounded better. For more money the MXR wylde is pretty good, pretty much on par with the ts 9 for me. If you're looking on ebay I tried a visual sound one a while ago that sounded wicked too.

Re: digitech bad monkey

bad monkey love here....i'd put it against any other TS style od pedal. except you don't have to spend much on it.

Re: digitech bad monkey

awsome i might get one, i was also looking at the akai shredomatic, this thing has a pedal to change from diode? to distortion. not sure how good they are but there is one going cheap.

Re: digitech bad monkey

the monkey is an overdrive pedal, not a distortion pedal...it won't do metal on its own, you'd have to put it before an already overdriven amp.

Re: digitech bad monkey

I'll throw in a recommendation too... I've got one and it gets a place on my board every once in a while... I have a couple of other more expensive OD's but I really like the Bad Monkey! .... you can't beat it for the price either!

Re: digitech bad monkey

I own one. Its decent for what I paid for it. It won't replace my TS9 or my 808 clone. I keep it in my gig bag as a backup.

Re: digitech bad monkey

There's a lot of bad monkey love out here. don't have one myself, but I've read enough to be willing to give one a try.

Re: digitech bad monkey

love my bad little green monkey! I use it mostly to goose my metal planet pedal, it sounds great on its own thru my valve JR for some bluesy vintage overdrive sounds
use it for OD,clean boost or for the treble and bass EQ tweak its a very vesatile pedal, if you buy one you will use it!
