Has anyone used one of these before? I've been looking into it and the idea seems pretty sound to me. One device that you can load multiple (inexpensive) effects onto just by plugging it in seems like a genius idea. I never hear much about it though which makes me a little apprehensive. Does anyone have any experience with one and can you shed a little light if possible?

Re: DigiTech iStomp?

While it seems interesting for sure, I'm trying to figure out how this would be better than a floor pod type product (or a digitech RP type thing) where you buy it once and everything is on it already. Is it because when you buy one of the pedals you have a virtual version on your phone to use with headphones or something?

IMO it's a gimmick- though they have to start somewhere by takking into the Iphone market.

For the price of maybe 2 pedals, you have access to alot of pedals that cost $1-$5. The advantage is Digitech is putting new pedals on there with new effects.

However, for a little more ($199), you can get the Line 6 M5, which has over 100 classic effects, and you play one at at time. They're already loaded, no more downloading

Re: DigiTech iStomp?

I've got an iStomp for review, and it's a pretty cool concept. The tones for the effects I've tried so far have been pretty impressive.

It's a great idea if you are after a few effects that you wouldn't use often enough to warrant buying a separate pedal. This pedal is perfect for studio use.

What would make this pedal idea really kick off is if you could load, say three separate effects to the pedal, and have a switch to go between them. That way if there were a few effects you only used for say one song each, you'd save money on buying three separate pedals.

Re: DigiTech iStomp?

i got one in april, i really dig it, and every month they offer 2 new pedals at .99 cents intro price for one month. i usually just buy em cuz for a buck a piece you cant go wrong.

Re: DigiTech iStomp?

it will always be a digital effect though won't it... which for some, like me, isn't gonna cut it...
