Dimarzio area strat pickguard

Re: Dimarzio area strat pickguard

anybody want to chime in on these for a MIM strat project?

You mean get a pre-wired pickguard?

I think you get more out of a project if you start with an empty pickguard.

For me, a regular pickguard doesn't cut it because I can't have the vol. control 1/4" away from the bridge p/u........I can't friggin' stand that!

Re: Dimarzio area strat pickguard

overall, i love the area pickups. i'm most happy with the 67s. i bought a set, and then swapped the 58 in the neck with the 67 in the middle. i also nabbed a virtual solo for the bridge position because the 61 wasn't my thing. so now it's

neck: 67
mid: 58
Bridge: VS

great combo. i might actually get another 67 for the middle, as well. it's a great sounding pickup.

have fun.

Re: Dimarzio area strat pickguard

I loved the area set in my MIM. Even better than the David gilmour set I traded then for.

Re: Dimarzio area strat pickguard

I had an Area set in my MIM before I sold it. '58s in n &m, '61 in the bridge. I bought them before the '67 came out or I would have loved to try that too. I liked them a lot, I say go for it.

I'm also running a 67 in the neck and 58 in the middle of my mim strat and I love em. Super quiet too.

I just want to chime in here and wholeheartedly agree with this statement. I ordered a pre-wired pickguard from a very popular so called "custom" shop over the summer and I had special wiring instructions that were spelled out graphically in photoshop to a TEE and they still screwed it up.
